As part of the Lisbon Architecture Triennale of 2011 the Mulemba House project is part of "A House in Luanda: Patio and Pavilion” international competition. The aim of this architecture competition was to design a single family dwelling that was radically cheap to build and that was designed within the cultural, economic and social contexts of Luanda, which is a city in extreme social and urban pressure, and which is undergoing an intense process of urban transformation.
